What It Means
The "Controller Over Temperature" error occurs when the controller temperature exceeds the normal operating range, typically above 100°C. This can lead to reduced performance or automatic system shutdown to prevent damage. This error affects Pedego's Interceptor, City Commuter, Ridge Rider, Trail Tracker, and Platinum models.
Possible Causes
-
The controller has overheated due to prolonged heavy use.
-
High ambient temperatures are affecting cooling.
-
A malfunctioning temperature sensor inside the controller.
How to Fix It
-
Allow the controller to cool down – Turn off the bike and wait at least 10–15 minutes before restarting.
-
Avoid excessive load – Reduce the strain on the motor by avoiding steep inclines or prolonged high-speed riding.
-
Replace the controller – If the error persists, the temperature sensor inside the controller may be malfunctioning and require replacement.
Preventive Measures
-
Avoid extended use in extreme heat.
-
Regularly check for debris or obstructions near the controller.
When to Contact a Pedego Technician
If cooling down the controller does not resolve the issue, contact a Pedego technician for further diagnostics and possible controller replacement.
